      Course Overview

      Creating an inclusive workplace begins with understanding the diverse needs and experiences of individuals with disabilities. This course provides an introduction to disability awareness, exploring legal responsibilities, different types of disabilities, neurodivergence and inclusive communication. Participants will gain practical knowledge and tools to help foster a culture of inclusion, challenge misconceptions and identify opportunities to improve accessibility and support for employees, customers and service users.

    • By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

      • Identify and understand the four key areas of disability: developmental, physical, sensory and behavioural.
      • Recognise a range of disabilities and understand how they may affect individuals differently.
      • Understand the relationship between neurodivergence and disability, including visible and non-visible conditions.
      • Explain key legal responsibilities relating to disability and inclusion in the workplace.
      • Use inclusive language and apply appropriate disability etiquette.
      • Challenge common misconceptions and improve awareness of disability-related issues.
      • Identify practical actions to improve accessibility and inclusion within their organisation.
      • Support their organisation in developing positive change through both quick wins and longer-term inclusion strategies.
